Nigel Campbell
Nigel Campbell (New York City, NY) received his dance training at Creative Outlet Dance Theater of Brooklyn, under the mentorship of Jamel Gaines, The Ailey School, Miami City Ballet, and Jacob’s Pillow. He is a graduate of LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts in New York City and of The Juilliard School, under the direction of Lawrence Rhodes. Upon graduation, Campbell moved to Saarbrücken, Germany to dance with Ballett des Saarländisches Staatstheater /Donlon Dance Company, under the direction of Marguerite Donlon. He has danced works by Jiří Kylián, Ohad Naharin, Marguerite Donlon, Robert Battle, Kurt Jooss, Doug Varone, Alvin Ailey and José Limón, among others. Campbell is a NAACP ACT-SO (Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics) Gold Medalist and a 2004 Presidential Scholar in the Arts. He has been featured in the PBS Documentary, American Talent. This is Campbell’s first season with Luna Negra Dance Theater.
