Though I lived in Virginia years ago, I had forgotten how beautiful the autumn season is!! It is rainy and warm in these first weeks of November and the colors are just beginning to change. The most notable feature of this area is the abundance of fresh seafood caught right outside our hotel from the bay that borders the Hampton/Newport News/Virginia Beach area. I've eaten crab or some form of it nearly each day we've been here and have enjoyed the food especially from two different taphouses near our hotel!
The American Theater itself was a small, cozy building that housed the smallest stage we've performed on this season, but the audience showed a gracious appreciation for each of our shows and the hospitality of the theater staff and crew was exceptional.
So long, (American Theater) and thanks for all the fish!
We had a great time in Virgina. Here are some highlights of the trip! The day we got to Hampton, VA it was rainy and chilly. We were staying right by the Chesapeake Bay which was very beautiful. It was nice to be near the water and see all the boats docked. So we checked in and decided to get some seafood at this cute place which we ended up going to almost every night we were there. It was so good! Its sometimes hard to find healthy food on tour; you have to be a little creative. The next day we started our tech rehearsal at the American Theatre. We had to make a lot of changes to the pieces because the stage was much smaller than we were used to. But we worked together and solved the problems. It actually turned out to be really fun changing some things around - it kept us on our toes! We had two fun shows and great audiences in Virginia; a group of young dancers came one night and we ended up singing Happy Birthday to one of them in the lobby after the show. She looked thrilled! We also celebrated one of our own company member’s birthdays…Becca! Our last night in town we celebrated closing night and her birthday. It was the end of a great trip!
